Welcoming the New Guardian of Templong Anituhan for the Moon Cycle of October 10 to November 9, 2026
On October 10, 2026, the community of Templong Anituhan concluded the sacred guardianship of Diwatang Kanlaon of Negros and formally welcomed Diwatang Tungkong Langit as the new spiritual guardian and guide for the lunar cycle that will extend until November 9, 2026.
This transition is more than a ceremonial change. It is an invitation to reflect upon the values, wisdom, and spiritual lessons embodied by the Diwata who watches over the community during a particular season. As we enter the sacred presence of Diwatang Tungkong Langit, we are invited to contemplate the meaning of order, balance, guidance, and the divine light that emanates from the heavens.
Who is Diwatang Tungkong Langit?
Among the oral traditions of the Suludnon or Panay-Bukidnon people of Panay, Tungkong Langit is remembered as a great power associated with the ordering of the cosmos and the establishment of harmony within creation. Within the spiritual reflection of Templong Anituhan, we further contemplate his name and essence through the symbolism of the word tungko.
In many Filipino cultural contexts, a tungko may be understood as a support, a resting point, a foundation, or even something that provides assistance like a walking staff. The traditional three-stone hearth that supports a cooking pot may likewise be viewed as a form of tungko because it bears the pot and enables transformation through the sacred fire.
Through this lens, we recognize Diwatang Tungkong Langit as:
