Setting Foundation of Our Future: Stipends for Doing Mission in Ministry

I. Purpose of the Policy

This policy establishes a clear and spiritually aligned framework for providing financial support to ordained clergy and temple officers of Templong Anituhan. It ensures that those who serve in sacred roles are sustained with dignity, while honoring the temple’s values of service, community, and spiritual stewardship.

II. Rationale

Unlike secular employment, the work of a Chief Priest and other clergy is a sacred calling. While their service is not transactional, it is essential to recognize the practical needs of those who dedicate their lives to spiritual leadership. A stipend:

  • Affirms the value of spiritual service without commodifying it.
  • Supports the well-being of clergy so they can focus on ministry.
  • Encourages sustainability of temple operations and leadership.
  • Reflects community support through offerings and shared responsibility.

III. Definitions

  • Stipend: A fixed financial support provided regularly to clergy, not as a salary but as a form of ministerial sustenance.
  • Ministerial Support: Includes stipend, housing, food, transportation, and other needs essential for spiritual service.
  • Temple Officers: Includes Chief Priest, Elders, Ritual Leaders, and other ordained ministers recognized by the temple.

IV. Determination of Stipend

Stipends are determined based on the following criteria:

  1. Role and Rank within the temple (e.g., Chief Priest, Lakan/Dayang, Elder).
  2. Level of Responsibility (ritual leadership, teaching, administration, pastoral care).
  3. Community Contributions (offerings, tithes, donations).
  4. Availability of Temple Resources and financial capacity.
  5. Cost of Living in the local area (e.g., San Jose Del Monte City, Bulacan).

V. Suggested Stipend Structure

Role Monthly Stipend Range Notes
Chief Priest ₱10,000 – ₱20,000 May include housing and travel allowance
Senior Minister ₱7,000 – ₱15,000 Based on experience and duties
Ritual Leader ₱5,000 – ₱10,000 May receive additional honoraria for ceremonies
Temple Elder ₱3,000 – ₱7,000 Support for advisory and pastoral roles

Note: These figures are flexible and subject to review based on temple income and community support.

VI. Source of Funds

  • Tithes and Offerings from members and patrons.
  • Donations and Sponsorships from supporters.
  • Income from Temple Services (e.g., rituals, healing, education).
  • Grants or Partnerships with aligned organizations.

VII. Review and Adjustment

  • Stipends are reviewed annually by the Temple Council.
  • Adjustments may be made based on temple growtheconomic conditions, and individual needs

VIII. Spiritual Integrity

All recipients of stipends must uphold the spiritual integrity of their office, maintain transparency, and remain accountable to the Temple Council and the community they serve.
